I have 2 Dodge/Cummins trucks, a 92 & a 2001. I have never used anywhere near that much torque on the drain plugs of either... I do not use a torque wrench on them, but I do have a feel for torque, since I use a torque wrench on a regular basis tightening fasteners on dies. I would guess that I tighten mine to no more than 25 to 30 ft/lbs. I wonder if yours might have been cross-threaded at some time.
