as a kid, i was always excited to "throw the switch", and watch the manure go out the barn chute and drop into the manure spreader..we had a small minnesota spreader so ya had to be quick and run outside to balance the load, and then run back in the barn to keep scraping and cleaning.. i enjoyed watching it, and when 1/2 the barn was clean we'd start spreading straw and liming the floor..i think within half an hour the barn would be clean..then it was time for the spreadin.....
