Lots of new high end cars have come from the factory with synthetic, namely Mobil 1, for years now. Porsches and Corvettes have had it from the factory in the past and as far as I know still do. Volkswagen TDI engines come filled from the factory with 5w50 Castrol synthetic and call for only synthetic oil in the owners manual.
