Much depends upon which 4000 you have. If you have a 4 cylinder from '62-64, then you should be able to follow MSM's advice. If you have a post '65, then the game is different. Then you must remove the axle trumpett, pull the brakes, then the planetary, and then remove the retainer bolt on the outer shaft, and then extract the shaft. Once you do that, then you can remove the seal and bearing if necessary. A leaking seal is not all that uncommon. That's the basics of it. HTH. Rod
