Its a consistent fair amount of black exhaust when blade is engaged -- always has been. A large puff at start up and then consistent plume. Its become a more pressing issue now that I went under the clothes line while the bed sheets were drying....Wife was not so happy with black on white effect, diesel smell. I guess I could disengage the blade when nearing the clothes line and save myself troubleshooting the diesel but that won't stop the wife from poking fun at me and the little JD.
I'll check the alternator bearings ASAP. Makes sense since it has the electric clutch on the front PTO -- don't think it draws much but never know.
What's the best way to diagnose the condition of stuff in this thing? Compression test and having injectors bench tested? Timing marks?
