I'm was in the same boat. I have 20 acres of hay and a need (desire) to use my tractor, so I bought the necessary haying equipment. I could have bought a lot of hay for the horses and cattle for what I have in equipment or I could have hired the job out. Bought older Hesston MoCo, even older International hay rake and a pretty decent JD 346 square baler. I really like making hay and I figure I can get the better part of the money out of the equipment when I want or need to.
