Rock Shaft Trouble, Ford 3600

OK, I was out grooming pastures today with my 3600 which I just bought about 6 weeks ago. Was mowing along just fine when I noticed that The mower was really scalping things off. Went to raise mower a bit and had no lift. Took a closer look and one of the arms had fallen off the rock shaft and the shaft itself had worked its way half way out the other side. I unhooked the mower so I could drive the tractor up to the garage. I would like to get the lift temporarily working somehow so I can go get the mower out of the field. What is inside that engages the rock shaft? Can I just drive it back through and shove the splined arm back on? I had ordered a manual and a service manual about a week ago, but of course they have not arrived yet. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, Kirk
