Interesting post. IH applied lots of the same pressure to their dealers in the late 70's. One was told that his lot acreage was too small, another was told that he was selling too little new equipment, but he had a booming business in repair parts. IH said: "correct it or else". Those were the dealers nearest to me. The one with too-small lot just closed up and retired, the other just concentrated on repairing heavy trucks and construction equipment. IH really helped boost their own business, didn't they?
