It says alot about a man the way he treats his pets. They don't call dogs man's best friend for nothing. I have yet to own a dog who I would call my buddy, but it is not for a lack of trying. I just always seem to wind up with dogs of low intelligence. I need a dog that has that extra "spark" to him, so I can feel like we understand one another. My two current dogs, a 14 year old beagle and a 5 year old Pug are great dogs, well behaved and well trained, and I will miss them when they are gone, but they are just not "one of a kind" dogs. Now it is time to do the same favor for another.
