Many Sears stores are no longer "company" stores but are franchises. The last time I tried to buy tools at the franchise store in the town I was living in, I was told they didn't stock the tool I wanted (a set of metric deepwell 3/8" drive sockets) and was handed a catalog and told to order it. I went down the street to the Ace Hardware and have never been back to Sears for tools.
