Some of the later ones had wiring changes,running the safety switch circuit through a relay. Leaving the jumper in would keep the relay energized and kill the battery. Same thing as on the newer models,I guess the factory (legal department)caught on that everyone was bypassing the seat and reverse deck kill switches and figured out a way so you can't bypass without a complete rewire.
