The reverse switch on my 1641 cadet had an arm on it that you hit when shifting to reverse. This arm was visible through the shift lever slot. My friend, ( the dealer ) told me he had seen some of them that had " somehow gotten bent ". I held mine with needle nose pliers and bent it so that the lever would miss it. The seat rested on a spring loaded plate which raised up when you dismounted and killed the engine. I pushed the plate down and forced small sections of a rubber gas line under the heads of the mounting bolts-no more problems. Beauty of these two fixes is they are easily reversable if needed.
