The Sherman would also have reduced the PTO speed and would not gain anything except allowing your engine to run faster at corect PTO speed, I agree it would have had to have been one of the very fragil and very rare (Have never been able to find a tractor with one in to see what it looks like) Howdards, lots of information over on the N-board about these
