On some machines like that which are magneto driven, there is a wire to the side of the coil on the magneto. This wire does not "power" the magneto, it "kills" it by shorting to ground some of the turns.....when you want to stop the engine. Do a quick check is to see if you have such a thing and if so, disconnect the only wire to it (besides the high voltage wire to the plug) and try to crank the engine. You will have to remove the air shroud covering the engine to get to the magneto which is mounted at the side of the flywheel on top of the engine. If it cranks, with the wire removed, you have an interlock grounding your magneto when you don't want it to. Sorry, but the chase to find it can be confusing and cumberson. It includes seat, brake pedal, pto lever and ignition switch circuits. To stop the engine (if you just got it running) you will have to either pull the spark plug wire off the plug (with a long dry stick or insulated screwdriver) or short out the terminal on the side to ground, or merely touch it with the wire you removed (which must be grounded or you could have started the engine). Good luck, Mark

From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19
