There's the Heidrick Ag History Museum in Woodland, just north of Sacramento, that's worth a visit. Lots of machinery you won't see most other places. Also I understand UC Davis has a tractor museum, but I've never been there. Both might be a bit of a drive, but any drive AWAY from Oakland is a good one.
