As Jeff said, are two different styles. Underhood, or through hood. As far as smacking it with a 2x4, I think take another look. Might have some of the original or old stack pipe stuck inside the manifold. Is a 1/2" or 9/16" bolt, half moon washer, and nut that clamps the stack into the manifold. Make sure is no old pipe left, loosen the nut and bolt, drop the new into the stack, and tighten the bolt. Because of the shape of the washer clamping the pipe into the manifold, it will hold the nut, keeping it from spinning as you tighten the bolt. Mark
