Yeah Sllen, I heard one growling one Summer where we used to live. After trying to ignore it for a month or so, I decided to find it. Rode out on a friends horse one evening, just following the sound. Finally tracked it down at just over 3 miles away! Durn thing sounded like it was in my hip pocket.
