Both of those engines are good, reliable engines assuming they have been taken care of. Neither will garner points for gas mileage though.13-18 for the 360,8-14 for the v-10,the diesels will average 16-22. The automatic behind the v-10 is the same one used behind the cummins. It is a good transmission, the majority of problems people have with them,is usually attributed to improper maintenance. They overload the trucks, don't service them and adjust the bands, when they are supposed to,don't take them out of OD,and overheat them. They are better than the transmissions that Ford uses, and alot cheaper to repair than the quasi-allisons that GM uses. I have 3 Dodge diesels, the oldest a 1993 with 266,000 miles and just had the trans rebuilt for the first time at around 235,000. The other 2 have over 150,000 with the original transmissions.
