I have a 1996 Ram 2500 4x4 ext cab. 360 gas automatic with 160,000 miles on it. It had 85,000 on it when I bought it . My tranny is just now acting up but still works. This has been the best truck I've owned. I have had a couple of chevy's and fords too. You will be very surprized at how good the 360 will pull, but if you are going to pull alot get the Diesel. I would not even consider a V10 with the gas prices of today. I get 12-14 mpg driving to work and running around town. I have never went on a trip empty. I can push alot of gas through it with a load lowest was 7.5 mpg. This is with a 25 foot tamden dual gooseneck 5000-6000 lbs ?and a tractor around 7000 to 8000 ? pounds this is way over gvw,but this Dodge handled it fine on light hills. For heavy hauling often and in hills get the Diesel.
