Fatal Bushhog accident

Guys(and girls),
I have some advice for those of us out there who have been around heavy equipment for so long that it sometimes seems that we take tractor and equipment safety for granted. Last Friday (August 19,2005) my Dad was runover and killed by a ten and a half foot bushhog behind our 3010 while clipping behind one of our pastures. He was most likely standing up to stretch his legs while driving when the clipper hit the side of a tree. He was thrown off balance and fell backwards over the tractor and the clipper ran over him and cut him all up. His body was drug under the clipper for about 50 yards into the woods until the tractor hit heavy undergrowth, powered out and killed. I had the most unfortunate experience of finding him there under the headlights of my fourwheeler at 9pm that night. Needless to say, there wasn't much left of him. The 3010 and the clipper are alright though they will always remind me of this incident. My Dad was always safety conscious and never reckless and I will never know what caused this accident exactly. I'm hoping that this information of my Dads death will help us all to be a little more aware of our tractors,equipment and our surroundings and in turn save some lives as well as the hard pain that comes from the loss of a loved one.
