FORD HYD OIL WT ?

I HAVE A FORD 1801 IND.BACKHOE 1958-1960,IT HAS A FRONT MOUNT PUMP. I HAD A FEW SMALL LEAKS ON THE UNIT SO I STARTED ADDING 30WT MOTOR OIL TO THE HYD TO HELP SLOW THEM DOWN.SOON AFTERWARDS THE PUMP PUSHED OUT THE INPUT SHAFT SEAL. DID THE 30WT CAUSE THIS,OR WAS IT JUST TIME FOR IT TO GO?
