He always wanted to be a long-haul trucker, but couldn't pass the DOT physical. He was a radio announcer [DJ] from the 1970's until around 2000, until the stations around here started going to music on computer hard drives...can't use audio-controlled equipment while he's on the air, y'know...so his job's another casualty of modern technology. It's a real shame, 'cause he's got a good voice and was always really smooth on the air. So now he's in "retirement," because being in his 50's as well as being blind, nobody wants to take a chance on him...or risk the liability, in case his blindness might cause a problem for someone else.
