My understanding is that cars must be fit with tires that can stand top speed, as a federal law. Some cars have computer set to limit the top speed, so they can use a lower rated tire.. & some just won't make it to the higher speeds. The mention of reputable tire shops brings up another point, putting "C" load range tires on 3/4 ton trucks.. I see a lot of them with fat "Floating' tires... they do not have the load capacity that the "E" Range 10 plys have...In fact, a "C" tire is close to the limit on front axle of a Diesel Pickup, empty... I wonder why they will sell & install them...
