I have a father-in-law like that. he's a fantastic welder, pipeliner for 50 years, but at anything else he's dismal. But he knows it all. He's absolutely scary around electricity, burnt his own barn down years ago but thinks he knows it all. What i do is call him for every little welding job I don't feel up to and let him have his moment of glory, praise his work, then shoo him off before he hurts something.
