Yup. The filler is in front, the dist. hold-down is on the driver"s side and the 8th digit is a Y. Had a 77 Bel-air, an 83 caprice, an 81 parisienne and an 81 chev truck all with 305"s and all with soft cams in them. The cams all went bad just like clockwork at 130,000 km (80,000 miles). Changed the cams myself, not a hard job,just a big one. Sometimes though with a different engine you can run into a few surprises so I thought I"d check first. Thanks for the info. Parts are in Tuesday so I"ll let you know how it goes. Oh by the way Brad it has 243,000kms or about 150,000 miles on it. Leaks more oil than it burns.
