I grew up with a brother & 6 sisters. The only thing my brother ever did to make me mad was die at 48 because I miss him terribly. My five remaining sisters (1 is gone) can have anything or all I have for the asking. Fortunately they are all wealthier than I, so have no need to ask. I don't think your brother is jealous but has a very low opinion of himself and sees you as a reflection of what he'd like to be. He may realize its to late in life for him to achieve that so he attempts to run you down with demeaning statements. Try to be tolerant. He is apparently tortured by his own demons. As you can see what he says certainly isn’t going to make your mom (or anyone else) think less of you. Only you can do that. Good luck & be kind.
