The number is the indentity of that particular tractor.When traced by JD it will give you the original serial number of that tractor.JD can issue you a replacement tag.The tag they issue doesn't look like the original,but it's an authentic tag issued by JD for that tractor. You can then submit the serial number to the two cylinder club to be reasearched.They can't tell you much history wise,usually just the build and shipping date unless there's something special about your tractor.If the block in the tractor has been changed sometime in the past you won't get a tag issued because the block number won't match your tractor.
