The problems with cavitation come about when the tractor has been turned up or with improper coolant and impurities. The water filter assembly solves MOST of the cavitation issues when used with proper coollant. We had one 1466 turned up to 160hp that was run up to 15000 hours with an overhaul at 8000-9000 with no issues of that kind. A more knowledgeable person will correct me, but I always assumed the transmission in the 1466 was heavier then the transmission in the 1456, the standard weight on a 1466 is 2000 pounds+ more then a 1456. Neither is "weak" when used as designed. One transmission in a 1466 we owned did grenade when it was abused on a dozer blade.
