I smoked for thirty years---untill three weeks ago. I was working on top of the combine repairing the return elevator. i needed another wrench so I was climbing down to get it when I slipped on the slick tin and fell to the ground. I landed on my left side. The pain was terrible. After a trip to the hospital and x-rays and a CAT scan i was told I had three broken ribs and a punctured lung. The doc said that if I did not quit smoking , I would not be here in ten years. I was so sore I could not smoke. that day was my last cig. I quit cold turkey. I have not had one for 23 days and don"t even have the urge. If every smoker had a severe blow to the ribs, there would soon be very few smokers left in the world.
