I think the 3000 feet would introduce too much loss for extending the regular phone line. A pair of 'walky talky' cell phone looking units might be good enough. That way you could keep one with you and leave the other at home. Could even use it while driving the tractor, of course only while in the field not on the lane! (grin) Might be good in an emergency if you ran out of fuel, food, or drink on a hot day!
