The tractor you MIGHT be thinking of is the R4, the gas version of the D4. However, they did not appear until around 1936. The others are right. It was not until the mid-1930's that Caterpillar stopped naming their models after the horsepower rating. It might be a model Twenty-five, as it resembles a R-4. Pictures would help a lot.
