if you want to get her a loyal dedicated dog get a blue heeler. i got my forst one about 30 years ago and love them. the males are more one person, but nobody will mess with anyone in your family if its around.
i had a male that was 6 when i married my ex, she had been around him since he was a puppy, but when she moved in he would stay between us all the time. I should have listened to him
