They were designed back in the days when farmers stacked their hay and made huge stacks of loose hay. Mostly used out here on the prairie.

They lift a whale of a lot of weight and they will lift it very high. Since I grew up on the darned things, anything else seems like a toy.

No, they aren't clumsy at all; after you accept the fact that the tractor lives inside the loader. :>)
