Eureka!!!! Just figured it out- you did remove the rear cover. That marshmallow-shaped piece could come out there, via spring pressure on screw D. Spring puts pressure on the three plungers, and the marshmallow, and when you take the rear cover off, one piece flies out. That explains the picture- hole on the backside of the pump with no parts in it. Again, piece like marshmallows has a long and short end beyond the marshmallows. Long end goes to the rear. Now I can go back to MY shop.
