If you're sure the timing is correct, I'd check the valve in the exhaust pipe(the vacuum-operated one; supposed to help the engine warm up faster). Can't think of the name of it now. If it still has one. I had an older Chevy with a 350. This valve was located between the manifold outlet and the crossover pipe. Valve was rusted shut. Took me a little bit to figure out why one side turned red and the other one didn't.
