ot computer trouble

me and my computer dont get along but latley its been acting strange its got a habbit of slowing way down then freezing if you re start it it says alert regulator failure my uncle who knows computer laughed at me when i told him that and said they dont have regulators? but i see the message at least once a night any help as to whats going on is very apreciated thanks chris
