Major problems

We have a farmall 706 that is seriously messed up. It does not want to run. I think that it might have something to do with the wiring but i'm not sure. I don't think it is starting on 12 volts. It smokes really bad too when you can actually get it going for about a minute. That makes me think the rings are bad but i'm not sure. I am totally lost on this one. Any help appreciated! Thanks!!!!!!
