Strapping the gas tank to a tractor wheel works, but if you have no field work to do- mount it to a cement mixer drum- or if small enough, strap it inside. Use nails, nuts, etc., rather than gravel or rocks, on the inside of the tank. Run it for several hours. Magnets can retrieve nuts, but not rocks, when it comes to emptying the tank. If something rattles inside, you don't have the last one out- no need to count anything. Check with a radiator shop for a sealant- several brands available- Johnson and others.
