His reply probably was not as stupid or "off the wall" as it seems at first glance! You didn't say where the tractor is listed for sale, so I don't know if the following applies: There is a new scam going around (ebay) where someone emails you asking for more information on an item you are selling, and when you click on "reply", and fill out the requested information, your ebay password is directed to a non ebay site, and your information is stolen. I have gotten several of these lately, asking about items I'm not even selling. So, your seller may have heard part of the story on this scam, and is being cautious, before replying the emails requesting more information. Sad, isn't it, when even our old tractor community has to be invaded by such scum, who have no interest in old tractors, just use the trust amongst us to exploit and steal! By the way, as to the ebay scam, I guess you can log into your ebay account, and see if the message appears there, meaning it is (supposedly) legit, before replying.
