My 4020 gas can get more power?

We have a 1967 John Deere 4020 gas. It's been a really great tractor for us. Grandpa had a 4020 gas as well. He didn't like it because it didn't start very good and it never had very much power. It was before my time, but it was probably just wore out for I think that was the one that belonged to a construction company. Anyways, grandpa went to a county fair one time. Some company had, the way he described it, almost a chip for the gas 4020's. I guess it was just something that maybe hooked up to the carburator or the electrical. I have never seen any kind of a system like it before and I can't remember anything about it. Does anybody know what it was or who made these. I wouldn't mind getting one, if they are still around, for our 4020. Any Help? Thanks in advance!
