I am in what would be west central illinois, between the Illinois and Mississippi rivers. It is mostly type A soils that are highly productive, Ipava, tama, sable, just good black dirt. Things have changed quite a bit the last couple years. Cash rents have shot up to and beyond $200 per acre. Land has sold several places for near or over $5000 per acre and this land has no development potential and was bought by local people, many farmers. Taxes generally run in the $30- $35 per acre range. We have had several exceptional crops in a row, untill this year. Right along the Illinois river was some of the worst of the drought.
