I have a 1952 John Deere BN. I had baught it from a neighbor who didnt use it anymore because it knocked really loud and he thought it was just in need of a overhaul. Well, I started tearing into it and everything really looks fine. Someone told me to try to adjust the flywheel for thats what many of them needed after a while. The flywheel seems externally fine. It isnt loose at all. It feels pretty good. So,I just thought I would turn the flywheel once and see maybe if the noise would be coming form here. Keep in mind that THE PISTONS ARE NOT HOOKED UP. So, I turned it fairly slow and sure enough, there was a "PING" noise at one point of the turn of the flywheel. Does anybody know what this is that is causing it? Thanks in advance!
