It would seem to me your problem lies more in fuel delivery if it only fires when you use starting fluid. Personally, I don"t use the stuff on gas engines. I"ve been told that when it ignites it can sometimes do so violently, stretching head bolts, or breaking other parts. Not sure if that"s true but why tempt fate?

As far as Robin engines go, last I recall, they are manufactured by Subaru.
