I can only speak to spinners 'cause they are the only kind of plows I know, but the gauge wheel sets the depth of the plow.

And, if for some reason that wheel doesn't catch when she comes around, the plow heads fer China; really makes a mess, digs a ditch like you wouldn't believe.
