Running away would surly kill that engine and maybe some bystanders and it sounds like the fire extinguisher was a good idea to prevent a major blow up.
But is that engine going to be any good ? I have heard horror stories of fire extinguishers causing damage. At least they have something left to rebuild if it did hurt the insides of the engine.
