O/T varments killing chickens

Well 2 or 3 weeks ago I had 30 chickens now I'm down to 9. Varment what ever it is comes in the day or night and even eats them in the chicken house. Just lost one 10 minutes ago or so. Wife said the chickens where raiseing H$ll but I didn't get out fast enough to blow what ever it was away. Now heres the question if I rig a hot wire up at the top of the fence and use 110 volts and a light bulb will that kill what ever is getting in of just zap the H$ll out of them??
