Try a manual test switch wired in through the brake switch safety circuit to the tcc. When you touch the brake pedal the torque has to unlock. You can then try locking her up in direct drive and see what happens. Is there a tach in your truck? Watching the tack & speedo together will tell you lots. Installing a shift kit never hurt even an electronic trans. The extra line pressure will help ensure the clutch packs in the trans and locking torque won't slip. As long as they are not already burnt.
