You may have just a leaking overflow tank. Everytime your engine heats up your cooling system fluids expand and overflow into overflow tank and as the system cools the fluid is drawn back from overflow tank into cooling system. If overflow tank has a leak, be ever so slight, sooner or later you going to run out of fluid. These plastic tanks age and split or crack. once you have no fluid in the tank to go back in the engine you have air in the system, causing heating problem.
