5 inches of Rain in Michigan..

I can't believe we are getting flooded in Michigan right now with the hardest rainstorm I have ever had to drive in. I don't even have the heart to look at our fields in the morning. It will be a disaster, unless soybeans can live underwater but I am pretty sure they can't. Sure does test your faith after all the hard work and probably the some of the best beans we ever had started. This is one of those nights when I am seriously regretting ever attempting farming. I know I could be a lot better off financially if I turned my back on it and walked away. Not to mention the power was out again when I got home from work. This is the third time in about 6 months it has been out. I am seriously considering a large sale, apartment in town in a better economy and in a state other than Michigan. There has to be a better place to live than around here. Too much rain, not enough rain, too hot, too cold. Never any balance at all. I am sure the people in Louisiana have it much worse but this state is ridiculous to try to farm in. I have seen us get a rain like this and then go right into a drought afterwards. I think they said 90 plus degrees tomorrow with high humidity too. I feel just as bad for the people whith the droughts too because that will drive you crazy too. They say in a drought you will go hungry but in a flood you will starve. Lots of guys have wheat around here that just got ripe this week and may be a big problem now. A lot of it may be knocked down. I think I will just avoid our wet farm for a while and go down there in about a month and see what is left! 5 inches of rain and still coming down out there.
