Fan belt tight

Use to do all my own mechanic work, but can't now. Just had the water pump replaced on my Dakota. All is great except the 205 dollar labor. But man, did they tighten the belts. I can only bend them about a quarter inch with thumb and finger. Wonder if I should go in and loosen them a bit. I know too loose is hard on belts, but is too tight hard on bearings. These are the same used belts. New ones might give a little as they wear.
